Local drama or folk art forms are performed on open air stages or in front of the Tianhou Palace. The Queen of Heaven Palace or Tianhou Palace or Niang Palce is at the center of the street and is dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea and prayers are offered here for the safety of sea faring folk. Today, it also houses the Folk Custom Museum of Tianjin and showcases folk crafts and cultural relics. The Yuhangge Taoist Temple is another attraction. The Huanghui Fair honouring the Goddess of the Sea held on 23 March is acknowledged as her birthday.
