Kintamani is a popular hill region in the Bali countryside. Visitors will get a chance to see a massive thirty thousand year old volcano. The caldera created by the ancient volcano is over three kilometres wide and half of it hosts Lake Batur, while the other half is occupied by Mount Batur, which is a still active volcano. The best time to visit is early in the morning as visitors can then take in the sun rise over the mountain. In addition to trekking up the hill one can also cycle along the lake. The area enjoys cool and pleasant weather almost throughout the year.
There are a number of tourist spots that one can visit along the way to Kintamani. This includes the popular Goa Gajah, or Elephant Cave. The cave is located by a river valley and contains many ancient statues and idols. Another destination that might tempt visitors is the Tampak Spring, or Holy Spring Water Temple. The popular temple has a large body of water right in the centre that is thought to have healing powers. A palace is also located in the temple premises. As a popular tourist destination it is not difficult to find accommodation in Bali.
