There is said to be over 50,000 sculptures and over a 100,000 inscriptions and characters in the Chinese language. There are two sites that tourists can visit, one is on the outskirts of the town of Dazu (Bei Shan) and another more than 16 kilometers away (Baoding Shan). The sculptures are Buddhist and its dates as far back as 892 AD. A trip to Chongqing would not be complete without a trip to the this ancient attraction, which is a testament to the craftsmanship of its denizens from centuries ago.
