Dress Code
RAK adheres to a modest dress code for both men and women, being a part of the conservative Islamic nation of the UAE. Men must refrain from wearing sleeveless shirts and shorts, while women must have their shoulders and knees covered in public places. These are mostly shopping malls, mosques, and local neighbourhoods. Ramadan is the holy month of fasting and reflection in RAK. Social Customs
Emiratis appreciate decorum; if you are meeting an Emirati formally, make sure to use the title and the last name of the person. When greeting Emiratis, a handshake is acceptable; however, if it is a female, wait for the lady to initiate the greeting.
