Situated in Northeastern Thailand, Khon Kaen may not be as popular as Pattaya or Bangkok when it comes to nightlife, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have plenty of fun after dark either! Here’s a quick look at what you can enjoy in the city once the sun has set.
Nightlife Hubs
There are certain areas which have become hubs for nightlife, home to many pubs, bars, live music venues and clubs which will be easy to reach from a city-based hotel. Khon Kaen attracts lots of revellers to Pracha Samran Road which comes to life each night and is very popular amongst locals. More night-time escapades also await at locales like Soi Na Muang 25, Ruen Rom Road and the Tawandaeng area.
Places to Visit
There are various happening venues to choose from, each catering to a diverse clientele. You can dance the night away at U-Bar, enjoy live music at The Library and experience a Thai disco at Tawandang. You can sing your heart out at Encore Karaoke at Avani Khon Kaen Hotel & Convention Centre which is also home to London Inn that serves international brews. The Hawaiian-style Tiki Tiki Bar, Der La Jazz, Let It Beer, Actart Cafe&Studio and The Gentle are some other happening places to head to.
Beer Gardens
A popular part of the nightlife in Thailand is beer gardens which provide laidback outdoor spaces in which you can enjoy cold beers and typical Thai food; some will also feature live music which can include everything from pop and rock to traditional local music. You can find such beer gardens in Khon Kaen as well at places like Boss Time which usually has live bands at the weekend. Other such venues include 76 Station and E San Thai Bistro.
Night Markets
In Khon Kaen, nightlife doesn’t have to just include drinking and dancing, but shopping too! This is what awaits at the city’s night markets where you will find some great bargains, diverse souvenirs, and delicious food. One of the most popular is the Ton Tann Night Market and though it’s a bit “touristy” it’s worth exploring; other places to shop include the more traditional Fairy Plaza Night Market and Walking Street Market.
