Nearby Kintamani has a cluster of traditional mountain villages that overlook mountain lakes and lava fields; visitors can enjoy refreshments here. Pura Ulun Danu Batur Temple, Bali’s temple by the lake, in Kintamani sits on Lake Bratan. It was built in honour of the River Goddess, Danu who is thought to provide the main source of water that sustains the region’s irrigation system.
