Siem Reap is the closest city to the very famous temples of Angkor. The name ‘Siem Reap’ literally means Siamese defeated, which refers to the victory of the Khmer Empire over the Thai kingdom army in the 17th century. During the start of the millennium, Siem Reap was a simple provincial town with a few facilities, today, the city is completely different from the Siem Reap from the year 2000.
