A private pool villa can make a Zanzibar holiday feel considerably more personal. Instead of planning every afternoon around the main resort pool, guests can swim, read and relax in complete privacy. Yet villas differ substantially in location, pool size, beach access and service. Choosing according to your daily routine is more important than selecting whichever photograph looks most impressive.
Compare Privacy With Location
An oceanfront villa may offer better views but sit closer to a public section of beach or resort pathway. A garden villa might feel more secluded while requiring a longer walk to the sea.
Families should look carefully at pool safety, bedroom configuration and whether children can be supervised easily from indoor living areas.
The Best Zanzibar Resorts With Private Pool Villas
Three resorts offer different private-villa experiences.
1. Residence Zanzibar – Villa-Only Privacy
The Residence Zanzibar is built entirely around villa accommodation within a large tropical estate.
Key highlights:
- Private-pool villas form the core accommodation.
- Garden and coastal settings offer different experiences.
- Large resort grounds provide considerable space.
- Bicycles can be used to explore the property.
- Spa and watersports facilities sit beyond the villa for guests wanting more activity.
This suits guests who want villa living to remain central throughout the holiday.
2. Baraza Resort & Spa – Large Villas With Plunge Pools
Every one of Baraza’s 30 villas includes a private plunge pool. Villa sizes range from approximately 148 to 254 square metres, with both one- and two-bedroom categories.
Key highlights:
- All villas include private pools.
- Two-bedroom layouts suit families or small groups.
- Oceanfront and garden categories offer location choices.
- Swahili-inspired interiors create a strong destination identity.
- All-inclusive dining reduces everyday planning.
3. Zuri Zanzibar – Contemporary Villas and Jacuzzis
Zuri takes a slightly different approach. Its larger villas provide oceanfront or garden settings, generous living spaces and private Jacuzzis rather than identical conventional swimming pools across every category.
Key highlights:
- Villas provide substantial indoor-outdoor living.
- Oceanfront categories add direct coastal atmosphere.
- Private Jacuzzis offer an alternative type of outdoor relaxation.
- Dedicated service supports higher-category stays.
- Large tropical gardens create separation between accommodation.
Check the Details Before Paying for Privacy
Ask whether the pool is fully private from neighbouring villas and pathways. Confirm water depth, sun exposure and whether the terrace has enough shade for the middle of the day.
Also check whether the villa’s advertised square footage includes outdoor areas. A larger headline number does not necessarily mean a dramatically bigger bedroom.
Conclusion
The best private villa depends on what privacy means to you. Residence Zanzibar offers an entirely villa-based resort experience, Baraza provides exceptionally spacious villas with plunge pools, and Zuri combines contemporary accommodation with tropical gardens and outdoor Jacuzzis. Compare location, pool design and living space rather than choosing on appearance alone.
