Bus
Famous for the lively music, packed crowds, and drivers seemingly auditioning for Fast & Furious, buses in Sri Lanka are a completely unhinged experience. While calmer, A/C-fitted buses exist for longer journeys, these privately owned ‘public’ buses offer the cheapest way to get around the country.
Renting Transport
Renting gives you freedom to explore at your own pace. Motorbikes are popular along coastal roads, while cars are ideal for families. Some tourists even rent tuk-tuks – just remember to secure a local driving permit.
