Stuck at the office, home or on a long commute, and dreaming of escaping busy life for a while to sun-kissed shores? Well, the Thai island of Phuket is where you can have all the fun in the sun, sand and surf you desire, with plenty of pampering too! Here’s what you need to know to help you start planning your holiday.
Find a Resort Beside the Beach
For a quintessential holiday experience, look to stay at a luxury resort by the beach and consider properties like Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas… you may even recognise it from some scenes in The White Lotus Season 3 (don’t worry, your stay won’t come with TV drama!). Such resorts offer stylish suites and villas with private pools and diverse dining options, as well as a kids’ club for little ones, and blissful spa treatments for parents or couples.
Plan Your Experiences
Once you have picked the perfect Phuket luxury hotel, think about what you will do, apart from lazing on the sun-kissed shores of beaches like Mai Khao, of course! For some cultural insights, wander through the Old Town or stop by Wat Chalong. You can also tee off at scenic golf courses, and for shopping, head to the Naka Weekend Market or Turtle Village, a popular shopping centre. Don’t miss the lively nightlife at Bangla Road or excursions to Phang Nga Bay and the Similan Islands either.
Getting Around the Island
Tear yourself away from the beach (don’t worry, it will be right there waiting for you at sunset!) and go exploring. Resorts often help with excursions, but you can also cycle around. Taxis are available (some metered ones don’t always use the meter), though consider ride-hailing apps like Grab and Bolt too. For a local touch, catch a songthaew, Phuket’s colourful open-air buses. If you are feeling bold, rent a scooter and carefully zip around!

Decide When to Go
Now for more good news… there’s really no ‘bad’ time to visit. The dry season, from November to April, is considered the best period because it’s sunny and breezy; since demand is high, book your stay ahead. The wet season, from May to October, has its charm too, with lush greenery, quieter beaches, and wallet-friendly rates. Sure, there will be showers, but they often pass quickly, leaving plenty of time for adventures in the sun!
