Bangkok is a city of neighbourhoods, and each one pulls in a different direction. Asoke sits at the intersection of all of them — literally and figuratively. Positioned where the BTS Skytrain meets the MRT underground, it’s one of the best-connected points in the city, and what’s built up around that connectivity is a neighbourhood that manages to be simultaneously practical, cosmopolitan, and surprisingly entertaining.
The EmDistrict
A short BTS ride from Asoke sits the EmDistrict — Emporium, EmQuartier, and the newer Emsphere — three interconnected malls along Sukhumvit Road that collectively house over 400 designer boutiques alongside more accessible high street brands, rooftop dining, and a high-end supermarket.
The Benjakitti District
One stop away on the MRT from Asoke station, Benjakitti Park is the kind of urban green space that a dense city earns the right to be proud of. The park wraps around a lake, offers a proper running and cycling track, and functions as a genuine lung for the neighbourhood. It’s one of the top things to do in Bangkok aside from its nightlife.
Little Japan and Korean Town
Little Japan on Soi 33 is exactly what it sounds like — authentic Japanese restaurants, sake bars, minimarts, tea houses, and bookshops, all within a single street. Korean Town on Soi 12 is a three-storey plaza centred on Korean BBQ, bibimbap, fried chicken, and the small bars and Korean product shops that fill in around them. Perfect for a little escapade before heading back to your stay at a well-positioned stay such as NH Bangkok Asoke.
Asoke After Dark
When the city shifts into evening mode, Asoke shifts with it. Soi Cowboy — one of Bangkok’s most well-known nightlife streets — is a short walk from the main junction, lit up in neon and reliably busy after dark. It’s worth experiencing at least once for the spectacle.
