If you’re planning a wedding or engagement around Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, you’re in for a treat. This man-made island offers dramatic backdrops of the sea, skyline, luxury resorts, with sweeping views. Here are five of the best photo spots around Palm Jumeirah and photography tips:
1. The View at The Palm (Palm Tower Observation Deck)
This elevated viewpoint is 240 metres above Palm Jumeirah. It offers wide, unobstructed vistas over the palm-island fronds, Arabian Gulf, and Dubai skyline. The height creates a dramatic sense of scale, making it perfect for wide-angle couple shots, or silhouette shots with the island behind. The golden hour light is beautiful here.
Book a slot in advance so that you can coordinate the lighting, dress and the soft breeze. Take a telephoto or wide-angle lens with you to best appreciate the views. Also check any photography permits for commercial shoots.
2. The Pointe Promenade & Waterfront
Located on the tip of the Palm, The Pointe offers breathtaking views of the water and the iconic Atlantis The Palm resort, making it a highly photogenic spot.
When photographing the area, use the long boardwalk as a leading line. Have the couple turn towards or away from the hotel, and use the water reflection and glow of the sunset. Get there an hour before the sun sets to capture the warm light. You can either have the tourists part of background, or choose a less busy stretch for quiet couple portraits. Also check if large gear (tripod, lights) needs clearance.
3. West Crescent Walkway / Boardwalk surrounding Palm Jumeirah
The outer edge of the crescent has less direct built-up obstruction, with open views of the sea and skyline. It is the perfect spot for taking wonderful sunset photos on Palm Jumeirah.
Use the curve of the island as part of the frame, perhaps a shot where the couple stands on the walkway with the island behind them sweeping into view. At sunset, you can see the rich colours over the water. Arrive 30 minutes before sunset to scout for the composition. As this is a public area, shoot during times when there are fewer joggers and walkers.
4. The Palm Resort
Hotels like Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort offers a beautiful beachfront setting, tropical landscaping and a luxury atmosphere. It’s ideal if you want dramatic beachside shots with the backdrop of the shimmering Dubai cityscape.
You could use the beach with this romantic hotel in Dubai behind you when taking photos. Or, consider the lush interiors and exteriors of the hotel for more formal poses. For example, the bride could be strolling on the beach with the buildings in the background lit softly.
If you plan to do a professional shoot inside the resort property, ask the venue for permission and check if there is any fee. Shooting during golden hour will illuminate the hotel facade better.
5. Palm-Fronds & Private Beach Segments / Palm Trunk Landscapes

Aside from the iconic palm-like fronds seen from above, this location has gardens, private beachfronts and secluded stretches lined with villas. Photography guides say that Palm Jumeirah’s Palm Promenade central spine walkway and frond tree walk is ideal for unique photos.
Use more secluded beach or garden locations for romantic couple photographs, away from the hotels. You could have pictures of the couple strolling hand in hand along palms, or silhouettes framed by the palm trees and ocean.
These locations may require entry via a resort or villa. Ensure you have authorisation if you’re entering onto private property.
