Commonly called Trinco, head over here if you’re looking for the perfect tan while you basically do nothing but lounge on the golden beaches. Snorkelling is a common activity at Pigeon Island, where you’ll be able to see sharks, turtles and tons of fish and coral!

Pasikudah

Pasikudah has to be one of my favourite beaches. Walk a couple of km in and the water will still only reach your waist! The beach is ideal for leisurely swimming and enjoying the tranquil waters of the Indian Ocean. The entire bay is dotted with beautiful Pasikuda beach hotels – with some properties such as Sunrise by Jetwing giving you direct access to the beach!

Batticaloa

Batticaloa can be found in the middle of Trinco and Arugam Bay (mentioned below). The lagoon and the nearby Gal Oya National Park is sprawling with wildlife from elephants to crocodiles! Endless white beaches bordered by swaying coconut trees are what you’ll be greeted with.

Arugam Bay

Arugam Bay is famously known to be an international surfing destination – attracting wave catches from around the world to ride the crazy big waves here.
