Considered to be one of the best places to learn diving, Hikkaduwa is home to the famous Hikkaduwa National Parks that’s one of the 3 marine national parks in the country.
Bentota
This little fishing hamlet is often referred to as Sri Lanka’s water sports hub. Bentota water sports range from surfing, kite-surfing, windsurfing, and water skiing, in addition to diving. You can sign up for these exciting activities at either a resort like the Shinagawa Beach by Asia Leisure or at one of the diving centres lined along the beach.
Trincomalee
Lovingly nicknamed as “Trinco”, this slice of paradise is located along the east coast of Sri Lanka. There are many amazing dive sites found here such as the wreck of the renowned H.M.S Hermes which was the first aircraft carrier in the world.
Kalpitiya
Famous for whale and dolphin watching, the fishing town of Kalpitiya is home to Sri Lanka’s largest reef, the Bar Reef. You can spot an array of marine life here such as reef sharks and manta rays.
